Fluid End Machining Services for Hydraulic Fracturing Equipment
Continental Manufacturing machines fluid end blocks, manifolds, and other hydraulic fracturing machined components for frac pumps used in well stimulation. These parts run at pressures that regularly exceed 15,000 psi and take direct contact with abrasive proppant slurry on every stroke, so every bore, seat pocket, and thread has to hold tolerance under conditions that would fatigue a poorly machined part within weeks. We've run precision CNC machining out of our Dallas, TX facility for more than 50 years, much of it for oil field work, and we hold fluid end components to that same standard for OEM manufacturers.
What Fluid End Machining Requires
A fluid end is the section of a frac pump that houses the suction and discharge valves, seats, and plungers, which makes it the component most exposed to pressure cycling and erosion during a frac job. Machining one accurately means holding bore alignment across deep cross-bores, cutting valve seat pockets that seal without leaking, and threading connections built to take repeated pressure spikes. We machine to tolerances as tight as .0002" and check every critical dimension with height gages, thread gages, and hardness testers before a part ships.
- Deep-bore drilling and boring for suction and discharge passages
- Valve seat pocket machining cut to sealing tolerances
- API and Acme thread cutting for high-pressure connections
- Cross-bore intersections finished to reduce stress risers
Materials for Hydraulic Fracturing CNC Machining
Fluid ends see thousands of pressure cycles over a service life, so the alloy matters as much as the geometry. We machine 4140 and 4340 alloy steel and 17-4 PH stainless, the same material families we already run for oil field drilling components, selected for fatigue resistance and erosion control under sustained pressure. Heat treatment and hardness verification happen in-house, so a block leaves our shop at the hardness and tensile strength the print calls for, not just the finished dimensions.
- 4140 and 4340 alloy steel
- 17-4 PH and other precipitation-hardened stainless grades
- Customer-specified forgings and bar stock
Custom Fluid End Machining Services for OEM Manufacturers
Continental Manufacturing works directly with pump OEMs and completions equipment builders, not distributors, which means we take a print, or a worn part that needs to be reverse engineered, and machine it to spec instead of pulling from a catalog. Whether you need a single prototype for a new fluid end design or a repeatable production run of replacement blocks, we scale the job without changing the tolerance or the inspection standard between the first part and the thousandth. Finished components ship directly to your facility or your customer's location, so an order slots into your existing supply chain instead of adding another step to it.
Why OEMs Choose Continental Manufacturing for Hydraulic Fracturing Manufacturing Services
We've supplied oil field components, including mud pump replacement parts and down-hole drilling parts, for decades out of our 28,000-square-foot Dallas, TX facility, and that track record carries directly into fluid end machining for frac equipment. Our shop is ASME certified, runs 7-axis CNC alongside CNC turning, milling, and Swiss machining, and inspects every run with the same gauges and hardness testers regardless of order size. That combination lets an OEM send us replacement parts for an existing fleet and new fluid end designs without switching vendors.

Fluid End Machining FAQs
Buyers evaluating a machining partner for frac pump components tend to ask the same handful of questions before sending a print. Here are straight answers based on the work we do every day.
The fluid end is the section of a frac pump that houses the suction and discharge valves, seats, and plungers, the part of the pump that contacts the fracturing fluid and proppant directly under pressure.
Most fluid ends are machined from high-strength alloy steel such as 4140 or 4340, or from precipitation-hardened stainless grades like 17-4 PH, chosen for fatigue resistance under repeated pressure cycling.
Yes. We reverse engineer worn or damaged components to spec when a print isn't available, then machine replacements to the original tolerance.
